House of Troy

House of Troy's roots go back many years. The business was founded by Everett Bailey in Montreal in 1947. Everett was confined to a wheel chair, but managed to operate a small custom lamp manufacturing company selling to gift and department stores in the Montreal area. Everett's son, Norm, took over in 1960, and began specializing in picture lights, and moved the business to North Troy, Vermont in 1962.

Norm designed the tooling to make the finest picture lights available and then traveled the east coast opening accounts. His wife and nine children participated in the operation in various capacities.

When Kent and Natalie Mitchell purchased the business in 1982, there were six employees. As picture light sales increased, a search began for other product lines. In July 1984, House of Troy introduced a line of high-end piano/desk lamps. Also in 1984, House of Troy became aware of the Dallas Lighting Market and set up space in small parts of permanent showrooms and finally in its own showroom.

In 1986, part of the manufacturing was moved to Hyde Park Vermont. The factory was a converted cow barn that had also been used as a dance hall, and even as a roller skating rink. The factories in Hyde Park and in North Troy continued to make high quality lamps. In 1995, the factory in North Troy was closed and most of the employees commuted to Hyde Park to work.

Each part is rolled, polished, buffed, sprayed and inspected to insure the finest quality standards. All our lights are assembled by hand to deliver to our customers only the finest quality lamps.

House of Troy is well-known for it's high level of customer service, quick shipping, and high-end picture and piano/desk lights that are shipped the world over.

In May of 2002 Kent and Natalie Mitchell retired and Malcolm Tripp, owner of H.A. Framburg and Arroyo Craftsman, became the CEO of House of Troy. William Brown was appointed as Chief Operating Officer of House of Troy. Together with Arroyo Craftsman and H.A. Framburg, all three companies are proud to create the highest quality U.S. made lighting products that are available to the connoisseurs of lighting, our valued customers.
